Beijing will have a chance to make one step further comparing to previous season since they qualified for the big finals of the Chinese Volleyball League.

Beijing vs. Sichuan

Beijing vs. Sichuan

Last season’s bronze medalists eliminated Sichuan from playoff semi-final series. They did it by sweeping out opponents – 3-0!

After prevailing Sichuan in two road games, Beijing won the first at home court 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 26-28, 25-22).

Hiring of the Cuban Leonel Marshall and Australian Thomas Edgar last summer, already turned out very fruitful to Beijing as they both were key figures for the most of the season. Today, the first one scored 20 while the other one collected 17 points.

In Sichuan, Cao Yiming had 15 while the Pole Zbigniew Bartman scored 14. Italian Michał Łasko left the court in Set 2 and didn’t return until the end of the game.

In the other semi-final series, Shanghai again took the lead against Shandong 2-1. They won in straight sets, partially 25-20, 29-27, 25-17, at home court.

Italian powerful duo Giulio Sabbi (20) – Cristian Savani (13) led the winning team while Ji Daoshuai scored 16 and Kou Zhichao 12 points on the other side.
