If last round’s defeat of Rush&Cash from leaders Hyundai Capital Skywalkers was not a surprise, the newest one from Kepco Vixtorm 3-1 (35-35, 21-25, 25-17, 25-22) certainly was an upset.
Usually, when some team prevail such an exhausting set, like Vixtorm did in Set 1 (35-33), it gives them boost to win others as well. And that’s how it was in today’s clash.
The Czech Jan Štokr from Vixtorm, who lost their chances to qualify for the playoffs, was the most efficient player with 31 point outscoring Cuban Robertlandy Simón from rival’s side (27 points).
One detail revelas how important was to Vixtorm to beat title holders. Their coach received red card and was removed from the game in Set 2.
Title holders Rush&Cash did not endanger playoff spot, but they are gambling with spot nuber two which gives home court advantage in semi-finals.
