The 2016 was the year of volleyball retirements!

There are so many amazing men’s and women’s players who said goodbye to professional volleyball in 2016 while some only retired from their national teams and will keep playing. Either way, volleyball is at loss.

These legendary players said goodbye to volleyball in 2016: Lyubov Sokolova (RUS), Antonella Del Core (ITA), Ekaterina Gamova (RUS), Clayton Stanley (USA), Krzysztof Ignaczak (POL) and Brittany Page (CAN).

The list of the players who retired from their national teams in 2016 is much longer: Katarzyna Skowrońska-Dolata (POL), Francesca Piccinini (ITA), Camila Brait (BRA), Sergey Tetyukhin (RUS), Thaísa Daher (BRA), Sérgio Santos ’Serginho’ (BRA), Reid Priddy (USA), Sheilla Castro (BRA), Fabiana Claudino (BRA), Paweł Zagumny (POL), Aleksey Verbov (RUS), Antonin Rouzier (FRA), Mehdi Mahdavi (IRN), Gavin Schmitt (CAN) and György Grozer (GER).
