“Tonight’s match was frustrating. All the credit to Argentina because they played great. They stopped us defensively. They frustrated us”, said captain Jarrod Offereins of Canada. “We tried to do too much in return and we fell apart as a group. We didn’t bring as much energy as we should. Argentina played a great game and they were the better team tonight and they deserved the win.”
Argentina’s captain Gonzalo Quiroga: “First set was complicated, with a lot of points, we in the third had the chance to increase our leve, with good reception and the rotation of attack, I am happy for the win, and also to know that we will face Brazil, in some kind of revenge for us”.
Canada’s coach Ben Josephson stated: “I thought we got thoroughly outplayed by a superior team tonight. Argentina’s skilled especially in first touch. They’re reception and defence were very impressive. I’m hoping our team can learn from that that example. We served in enough but they just did a great job of not making errors.”
For Argentinian coach Fabian Muraco, this victory was a result of a good executed tactical plan. “We worked on a tactical plan that was very well stablished because of the biotype and size advantage of our rival. We did a good job on reception, and are ready against Brazil. Facing them in round robbin or pool phase is always like a final”.
