Atul Kumar Singh, the leading scorer of India, finished with 22 points. Sandeep Kumar followed with 12. Pussadu Sirithep recorded a match-high 25 points in the losing cause while Yanch Wutthichai and Nanbook Kon collected 19 and 12 respectively.
Head coach of India noted “Our block was not well, but defense and attack was good. It was a good match. We played well. Thai team was good in block, attack and defense. Their setter performed a good job.”
Head coach of Thailand Manapornchai Khjhorn said “We had stress and in this age it is mental action. It is the first time our team plays in an international event. We had less training and less mental training.”
October 29 is a rest day and the quarterfinal will be played on October 30. The quarter final fixtures are: Iran vs. Thailand, China vs. Sri Lanka, Korea vs. India and Japan vs. Chinese Taipei.
