Wilma Salas will play for Chemik Police in the 2019/20 season, seven-time Polish Championship winners announced. A 28-year-old Cuban can cover the outside hitter’s position, but can also play as an opposite hitter. In the previous season, she performed in Bosca San Bernardo Cuneo, the Italian top division team, making 26 appearances and scoring 252 points.
Salas competed for Cuba national team from 2008 to 2012. After that, she had to make a two-year break in order to have the right to play outside her home country. Ever since, Salas competes in Europe: Azerbaijan, Turkey, Italy, and now Poland.
Salas will fight for the place in Chemik’s line-up with Martyna Grajber and Natalia Mędrzyk who extended their deals with the club. Chemik parted ways with libero Aleksandra Krzos, and middle blockers Justyna Łukasik (DPD Legionovia Legionowo) and Croatian Sanja Gamma.
