The Polish men’s volleyball Championship runners-up VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa returned to the 2020/21 season after almost a month of break caused by the coronavirus cases within the club, but it wasn’t a pleasant return.

VERVA Warszawa ORLEN Paliwa were leading against the hosts Indykpol AZS Olsztyn by a 2-1 in sets in Round 7 of the 2020/21 PlusLiga regular season but left the court defeated: 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-14, 15-13). German Ruben Schott top-scored the winning side with 17 points, while Ukrainian Dmytro Teryomenko served 4 aces and made 5 blocks.

The players coached by Italian Andrea Anastasi haven’t yet played a single match in the competition this season at home, in the country’s capital. In total, they appeared only three times on the PlusLiga courts, the fewest number of times of all clubs prior to today’s encounter. This last game Warszawa played before the encounter against Olsztyn has taken place on September 18. In the meantime, the four of their matches were postponed.
