After losing to Tauron MKS DABROWA GORNICZA in the Super Cup that opened the domestic season, Atom Trefl SOPOT will be playing Chemik POLICE in the first round of the national league. “Our goals remain the same but before we start to think about our main objectives for this coming season, we have to take it step by step in the matches of the regular season” team captain Izabela Belcik says.

The match with Chemick POLICE will see many volleyball stars in action. Atom Trefl SOPOT will be lining-up Mariola Zenik, Izabela Belcik, Anna Podolec, and Zuzanna Efimienko, all former or current members of the Polish national team, as well as NORCECA champion Kimberly Hill (USA) and a bronze medalist from the 2013 CEV EuroVolley, Belgium’s Charlotte Leys. On the other side of the net, wearing the jersey of Chemik POLICE, there will be Anna Werblinska, Izabela Kowalinska, Katarzyna Gajgal-Aniol, and Malgorzata Glinka-Mogentale. The bronze medalists from the 2013 FIVB World Grand Prix, Brizitka Molnar and Maja Ognjenovic of Serbia, will also cross their ways as they play for SOPOT and POLICE respectively this year.

Last week Chemik POLICE beat Atom Trefl SOPOT in straight sets at Szamotuly Amica Cup 2013 but Atom Trefl opposite Judith Pietersen performed strong there scoring 20 points all alone. As for Charlotte Leys, who has moved this season from Tauron MKS to Atom Trefl, she was among the reserve players last week. “I have been with the team only for one week and I see we have been improving day after day. So I hope that I will get the chance to play against Chemik this weekend”. “I think we have a really good team that stands a chance, with no doubt, to win the national league” adds Kimberly Hill who just got back to Sopot last Saturday.

This weekend Atom Trefl will also showcase their uniforms for the coming season with jerseys having short sleeves and featuring two white or golden stars – depending if the team is playing away or home – as a tribute to the two titles claimed by this club in Poland’s national league.
