The Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS) verified the names of experts that will lead the country’s men’s and women’s volleyball national teams.

At the presidium, the PZPS verified the names of new head coaches that will be in charge of both senior national teams and replace Vital Heynen and Jacek Nawrocki, who left their posts after the end of the national team season. These experts are Nikola Grbić (men’s team) and Stefano Lavarini (women’s team) by which speculations of media in Poland were confirmed.

Grbić, once renowned setter and the Olympic champion in Sydney 2000, achieved his greatest coaching success in May 2021, winning the CEV Champions League with Poland’s Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. After the triumph, the Serb, who was at the helm of his country’s men’s national team between 2015 and 2019, left for Sir Safety Conad Perugia, which aim to win the Italian SuperLega.

As for Lavarini, he spent most of his career in Foppapedretti Bergamo, winning the national cup with them in 2016. Between 2017 and 2019, the Italian commanded Brazil’s Minas, becoming the Brazilian champion, two years ago. After that, he took over the South Korea Women’s National Team. Currently, Lavairini works at Igor Gorgonzola Novara, the vice leaders of the Italian Serie A.
