In a thrilling start to the PlusLiga quarterfinals, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie stunned Asseco Resovia Rzeszów with a 3:1 victory, putting an end to Resovia’s impressive 17-match winning streak. The first leg clash took place yesterday, with Zawiercie capitalizing on home-court advantage to gain the upper hand in the best-of-three series.
The Jurassic Knights were led by standout performances from Bartosz Kwolek (18 points), Aaron Russell (16), and Karol Butryn (15). Kwolek, who was named MVP, displayed a well-rounded performance with 50% attack efficiency, one ace, and two blocks. Despite Resovia’s edge in blocking (9–4), Zawiercie proved more efficient in attack and from the serve line (6–3 in aces).
Meanwhile, ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle powered past Bogdanka LUK Lublin 3:1, bouncing back after losing the first set. ZAKSA, under coach Andrea Giani, showed composure and dominance in the remaining sets, displaying playoff pedigree as they chase another title.
