Scott Touzinsky has retired from volleyball! Now already a former player of Jastrzebski said in the interview for sportowefakty.wp.pl that he made the final decision.
“As an injury prevents me from playing in the rest of this season, I had to make a radical decision. I decided to end my volleyball career. I am 34 years old, but as an athlete I feel much older. For the fourth time in my career I suffered the same knee injury. I went to Berlin to consult with the doctor who operated me the last time and he did not tell me the good news. I must admit that I am a little bit sad because volleyball was everything to me in the last 17 years, but on the other hand now I will have time to look after my family. My son has always had to change schools because of my job and it has not been easy for him. From the next year he will start going to school back at home, in the USA. It is time for me to stop thinking about my career and to start thinking about the family and to help my loved ones fulfill their dreams.”
Scott Touzinsky had a long and successful volleyball career in which he has changed many clubs all over the world. He played in Greece, Belgium, Spain, Puerto Rico, Slovenia, Turkey, Germany, China and finally in Poland as the last club in his career was Jastrzebski Wegiel.
“I will come back to Poland for the Playoffs to support my teammates from Jastrzebski,” added Touzinsky.
The greatest achievement in his volleyball career was certainly winning the gold medal with the USA at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
