Daniel Pliński, a 38-year-old middle blocker of AZS Olsztyn, has played his 454th match in the Polish Men’s Championship, PlusLiga, setting a new record in the number of appearances in the history of the professional competition in Poland (since June 30, 2000).
In Saturday’s match against Effector Kielce, Pliński who was a member of the Polish National Team from 2005 to 2010, broke the old record of Krzysztof Ignaczak by one appearance.
Pliński’s PlusLiga career started in Stolarka Wołomin (1997-2002, only 2000-2002 counts, 60 games). It continued in: Polska Energia Sosnowiec (2002-2004, 54 games), Jastrzębski Węgiel (2004-2007, 86 games), Skra Bełchatów (2007-2014, 171 games), Czarni Radom (2014-2016, 61 games), AZS Olsztyn (22 games).
