PlusLiga champions Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle announced they have signed contract with the coach Andrea Gardini for the next season, making recent speculations in regard to this official. Thus, Gardini will leave the bench of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn and succeed Ferdinando De Giorgi (focusing on work with Polish NT) in Zaksa, while Roberto Santilli will replace Gardini in Olsztyn, as WorldofVolley exclusively revealed.

“I’m very happy to start working at a club with such a great tradition. For me as a coach is a great challenge and honor. ZAKSA is, without doubt, currently the best team in Poland. I believe that in the next season together, we can also create great, complete team,” a new coach of Zaksa said.

Andrea Gardini is legendary Italian player (competed as middle blocker), collecting 418 appearances in the NT jersey. In his professional career, he took national title 7 times with 4 different clubs, adding four trophies in the CEV Champions League. He became world champion three times and European champion four times. Gardini is also a six-time FIVB World League winner. As a crown on such a successful career, he was inducted into the International Volleyball Hall of Fame, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA.

After retiring as volleyball player, Gardini served as Azimut Modena Sporting Director before becoming assistant coach to Andrea Anastasi with the Polish Men’s NT (2011-2013). His next engagement was with Olsztyn and now, with Zaksa.
