WAGNER MEMORIAL: France prevail over Poland in a stunning tie-breaker

France have conquered fully packed Tauron Arena at the "Hubert J. Wagner" Memorial tournament 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 25-20, 22-25, 15-13).

The host team opened the game with a much better display, finishing the first set with a good block of Michal Kubiak. 

In the second set, we saw the answer of Team Yavbou. Even though the Polish team had 8-6 lead, France didn’t lose the will, creating a 19-10 series to win the set.

It gave a confidence boost to Laurent Tillie side, that continued playing on a high level, taking the 2-1 lead in sets, unfortunately for the Polish fans. 

Ferdinando de Giorgi team wanted to keep the fans a little bit longer at the arena, so they tied the score in the sets 2-2. In the fifth set, the European champions managed to make a comeback after trailing 13-12. The last point in this game was an act of Julien Lyneel.

The top scorers in France were Chinenyeze with 19 and Boyer with 17, while on the other side Konarski had 21 and Kubiak 17

Wagner Memorial, first day:

Canada – Russia 1-3 (23-25, 25-27, 25-22, 17-25)

Poland – France 2-3 (25-22, 16-25, 20-25, 25-22, 13-15)
