Famous Italian expert Ferdinando De Giorgi, who led Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle to the two straight titles in the Polish men’s volleyball championship PlusLiga, is now at the helm of their rivals Jastrzębski Węgiel in which he replaced Australian Mark Lebedew. And De Giorgi debuted with a win against powerhouse PGE Skra Bełchatów.
“I saw that my team was well-aimed, fighting, playing with passion and character. I’m happy with it, as well as with winning the important two points,” he said after the match.
“We played one good set – the first one, which we won by a 25-21. In the second set, Jastrzębie began to be aggressive on the service, but we also made too many simple mistakes,” stated Skra coach Roberto Piazza.
