These are major changes in the Russian leagues for 2019/2020

The Russian Volleyball Federation have decided to change the format of the competition for the season 2019/2020.

The major change is that the league will be divided into two groups, both in the men’s and women’s competition.

These are the Groups for the RUSSIAN WOMEN’S LEAGUE (12 teams):

GROUP 1: Dinamo Moscow, Uralochka, Zarechie, Leningradka (St. Petersburg), Minchanka Minsk and Proton (Saratov)

GROUP 2: Lokomotiv Kaliningrad,Dinamo Kazan, Dinamo Krasnodar, Yenisey, Sakhalin, Dinamo Metar Chelyabinsk.

Each team in the league will play two matches with teams from his group and one match against the team from another group. The best 8 teams will advance to the playoffs.

These are the Groups for the RUSSIAN MEN’S LEAGUE (14 teams):

GROUP 1: Kuzbass, Zenit SP, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, Ural Ufa, Dinamo Lo, Enisey Krasnoyarsk, Samotlor

GROUP 2: Zenit Kazan, Fakel, Belogorie, Dinamo Moscow, Nova, Gazprom Yugra, ASK Nizhniy Novgorod

The winners of the Groups will go directly to the Final Six. The team with the best performance in the regular season gets priority right to be the host of the final Six Tournament. Clubs that finished in positions from the 3rd to the 10th place will battle for four tickets that lead to the Final Six (3-10, 4-9, 5-8, 6-7).
