The first bigger advantage Russia have made after Muserskiy’s spike and Grankin’s block, 13:9. After that moves, “Zbornaya” continues to play on high level, even they increased advantage and clinched first set 25:17. It was surprising for all fans that Andrey Voronkov’s team easily clinched the first set.
French team had to react on this Russia playing style, and they did. Russia were smashed in second set. Now, it was surprising reaction by Laurent Tillie’s side. Julien Lyneel was in mood in this part of the game.
Finally, the third set was uncertain. Both team played well, and the fans saw fight for every ball from both side. However, Russia took third part of the game and entered in fourth with 2:1 lead.
At the beginning of the fourth set, France made a run 6:1, and Voronkov had to call TO. But, Russia returned to this set and won by 25:21, for the semifinals, where they will play against defending champions Serbia or Belgium.
Dmitriy Muserskiy and Nikolay Pavlov led Russia’s side to the win, both with 18 while Earvin Ngapeth finished with 22 in France.
