Zaytsev had huge expectations from all of the volleyball media around the World, and for a reason. His father Vyacheslav is one of the biggest names in the history of volleyball. He won three Olympic medals (one golden, two silver) is two time World champion and mind-blowing seven times champion of the Europe. But so far we can say that Ivan is not that far away from his father.

“To hold that Championship trophy I won with Lube and raise it to the sky, it was so beautiful. I hope I’ll be able to do it again and again…”

How long did it took to handle the emotions?

“Not long really. I just went to the gym and as soon as I’ve touched the ball, I thought of the new goals and new emotions that are in front of me.”

Is becoming a father one of those?

“Of course, this was an incredible year. We won the Championship, me and my wife bought a house in Rome that we really wanted and I’m going to become a dad. Amazing.”

Is your family coming to Moscow?

“Yes, it’s going to be a new experience for her but she is very curious in enjoying a new culture and people. But before that I will play for Italy in World League and World Cup, then we will move to Moscow, probably in September…”

Why Dinamo out of all teams?

“I couldn’t refuse an offer to be face of such an amazing organisation. Dinamo wants to be back on top of the European volleyball, and they wanted me as a cornerstone. I was honored, just couldn’t refuse.”

You said you will be back in Italy one day?

“I’m Italian, my home is in Rome, so yes.”
