Lokomotiv Novosibirsk
The clash in Noviy Urengoy was not supposed to be so difficult for the team led by Andrei Voronkov, but the beginning of the match showed some serious intentions of the young team of Fakel. They had a lead of 5-1, 7-3, but Lokomotiv then made a break after break and ran forward in the score. After the second technical timeout, Lokomotiv did not simply overtook the lead of the host team, but also imposed their game with powerful attacks for which Fakel did not have the answer.
After Fakel missed the chance in the first set, second and third went much easier into favor of Lokomotiv, thanks to Denis Zemchenok and Oreol Camejo, for their 8th win in Super League (one loss).
Zenit Kazan won the match against Yugra-Samotlor as a host 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-11) and noted its sixth victory of the season while the team from Nizhnevartovsk extended the losing streak to nine games.
Zenit established the lead in the early stages of the first and the third set. In the first set it was 5-1, 8-2 and amazing 19-9.
In the second set, guests “woke up”, and led with 8-6. After a technical timeout, the hosts managed to recover from the result of 16-18 and came forward. Yugra-Samotlor again leveled the score – 22:22, but in the end of the set, successful actions of Wilfredo León and Andrei Aschev brought Zenit to the win – 25-23.
In the third set, Zenit has left no chance to its opponent, beating them in all aspects. After an ace from Maxim Mikhaylov, score was 15-5. After a series of errors by the guests, gap grew to 20-6. It was not difficult to Zenit to bring the match to victory.
Evgeniy Sivozhelez came back to the team from Kazan after an injury.
