VINTAGE VOLLEYBALL: Monstrous spike reach of Soviet middle blocker! (VIDEO)

Many volleyball enthusiasts say that this sport has dramatically changed in the 21st century and they emphasize development of athletic abilities of players as the key factor.

But, 30 years ago, there were players that could easily play so-called modern volleyball that includes so many athleticism. One of them was Aleksandr Savin, the middle blocker that played for the national team of the Soviet Union from 1975 to 1986.

We can surely conclude that his spike reach and jump would be unusual, even for today’s standards of volleyball.
