GP 2016: Russia keep perfect record, Goncharova outscores Turkish teenage sensation

Russia kept perfect score in their 2016 FIVB World League campaign by beating Turkey in one of the most thrilling encounters of the first weekend in Group 1, 3-2 (26-24, 20-25, 20-25, 25-20, 15-10).

Russian National Team dominated in the first set of Pool C clash but then allowed Turkey to recover in the second set and to even take a 2-1 lead! Kaliningrad crowd had to work hard along with their favorite players to make a night of celebration.

Yana Shcherban and Nataliya Goncharova (the most efficient player in Russia with 19 points) secured equalizer and final win in the tie-break for a dramatic conclusion of the Weekend 1.

Polen Uslupehlivan and a 18-year-old Hande Baladin topped Turkey’s scorers with 23 points each.
