Aleksandr Butko did not find his place in Russia National Team roster for the 2016 Olympic Games due to injury and not such a great physical shape upon recovering from it.

Russian “R-Sport” interviewed him on the subject of alleged doping affair of the Russian athletes which was on the verge to cause their relegation from the Olympics. But, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) ruled against it. Thus, both Men’s and Women’s National Team of Russia will play in Rio de Janeiro.

“My attitude on this? Everything is very politicized… I believe that in individual sports, such as weightlifting, doping is used by many athletes and in all countries both by the Americans and the others. You just need to find scapegoats and all the athletes will fell under the accusations. I read that eight volleyball players of Russia are also suspected of concealment of positive doping tests. It’s nonsense! I’m sure that there was no doping in volleyball. The fact that Aleksandr Markin was ‘caught’ on using meldonium, it’s just a misunderstanding. I wonder, even now, how did WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) come up with it. Nonsense!” Butko said.

“I’m far from the law, but I was just wondering how is it possible to blame someone based only on words of one person without confirming it with evidence? And this man (Grigoriy Rodchenkov), who escaped to America, does not have any evidence. And in the current situation, only one spark is enough to flare up the flame. It’s all politics… Why should there be a collective responsibility for doping? This is the first time I heard about this…” Zenit Kazan setter added.

Because if it was organized and conducted for the group of athletes (especially for team sport) then you were all very well aware of it and you should all be punished! The Olympic games are too much important competition so the single player starts to use supstances alone without control
