Wilfredo Leon
After winning the Russian Cup, Wilfredo Leon has commented on the competition format, weather and result of his team in Surgut.
“It was hard to prepare for the tournament as I didn’t reach the shape. Sometimes, I feel the pain in my leg. I played as best as I could, trying to help the team. I am very happy, we earned this trophy. I was very angry too. At the same time I was very anxious about the final, because I was very tired. We played four-set game, who knows what would happen if we had to play tie-break. For us, it was much better situation to finish game in four sets. When we talk about competition format, I am more for “Final Four”. It’s better for the teams and for the fans. You don’t have to play too many games. At the final four, volleyball games are much more interesting and tense. People will come to watch matches with great pleasure. Also, it would be much better to play these tournaments in places that are warmer that Surgut. I heard that these days the temperature will drop to minus 40”, says Wilfredo Leon.
