Orenburg was in front of Dinamo Krasnodar before the 25th round of the Russian Championship. However, then Orenburg suffered a straight sets defeat on Saturday against Ural Ufa, while Dinamo Krasnodar were about to play their match against Nizhievartovsk one day later, on Sunday.
After losing the Saturday’s match, Orenburg head coach Vladimir Terentyev gave a very interesting statement.
“Am I going to watch the game from Krasnodar? No, because I know what the outcome will be. Krasnodar will win, of course. Simply, if Orenburg get relegated, no one will cry…”
And, Terentyev was right, because Dinamo Krasnodar did win the match against Nizhievartovsk by 3-1 and escaped the bottom of the standings. Now, Orenburg are placed at the last spot, while they will face Zenit Kazan in the last round of the regular season.
