Serbia was down 0-2 against Russia, but girls led by Zoran Terzić performed fantastic comeback and managed to win this match by 3-2 (22:25, 22:25, 25:14, 25:23, 15:12). That was 6th straight win for Serbia at the World Cup 2015, while Russia suffered its very first defeat at the tournament and lost the top spot on the standings…
The game was intense until the very last moment. It was 2-2 in sets and 12:12 in the tie-break, when Serbia made the crucial 3:0 run. Firstly, Natalia Obmochaeva missed a serve – 13:12, then the same player got blocked by Brankica Mihajlović – 14:12, while at the end Obmochaeva made another mistake as she spiked the ball into the net – 15:12 and 3-2 for Serbia.
And, she was far the best player on the court until those last three points… Obmochaeva scored 27 points and she was simply unstoppable in attack. But, Serbia had an answer in young Tijana Bošković who also made 27 points!
We wrote that Russia is not the first placed team anymore, because that spot now belongs to the USA! Reigning world champions defeated Argentina by 3-0 (25:16, 25:19, 25:14) and took over the leading position.
