SRB M: Grbic and 17 players started preparation for European Championship

Grbic

The first coach Nikola Grbic called 17 players for the preparation in Pale where the team will be until August 4. 

Setters: Nikola Jovović and Maksim Buculjević. 

Opposites:  Aleksandar Atanasijević and Dražen Luburić.

Liberos: Nikola Rosić, Neven Majstorović and Goran Škundrić.

Blockers: Dragan Dtanković, Marko Podraščanin, Srećko Lisinac, Petar Krsmanović and Aleksandar Okolić.

Receivers:  Uroš Kovačević, Marko Ivović, Nemanja Petrić, Milan Katić and David Mehić.

“In this part of the preparation, I expect that players faster enter into the training because we don’t have time. We knew that before the start of this National season, so we now have to work better and harder,” said Grbic and added:

“We came to Pale with 17 players. Aleksa Brdjovic didn’t come with us due to some health control. We will see, will he join us after we return to Belgrade. Stankovic, Rosic and Mehic have joined the team from Brazil. I hope that all players will be healthy and that we will very well prepare for the European Championship.”

Serbian team

Serbia will stay 12 days in Pale and then return to Belgrade.

“We will stay in Belgrade until Poland and in the meanwhile, we will play two friendly games against Slovenia. One of the main reasons why we didn’t accept some calls from the other teams is because we did not want to waste our time on the road. We made agree only with Slovenia because they hosted us before the start of the qualification in Zagreb. I hope that everybody understands us, especially because we begin the competition one day earlier than others so we will have one day less for the preparation.” said Nikola. 

Before two years Serbia stayed without medals, your wishes before this competition?

“Like always we want and hope for the best. We know that in Europe are so many teams that play very good volleyball. All results show that. For example, Belgium showed that they are in the top form, that Germany didn’t qualify to World Championship, Estonia is fantastic and they are in our pool. If we passed this group without playing qualification we will then meet with Russia, Bulgaria, or Slovenia. We know that it won’t be easy but I think that we have quality for winning some medal.” said Grbic.
