Gerdau Minas and Dentil Praia Clube, two of Brazil’s top women’s teams, have earned their places at the FIVB Club World Championship, representing South America. Their victories over Peru’s Regatas Lima and the host team, Sesi Vôlei Bauru, in the semifinals of the South American Club Championship have set the stage for a thrilling final showdown.
Gerdau Minas, led by coach Nicolas Negro, stayed in contention for their seventh title by sweeping Regatas Lima with a 3-0 victory. Isabel Peña led the scoring with 15 points, propelling her team into the finals and securing a spot in the 2024 Club World Championship in Hangzhou, China.
Reigning champions, Dentil Praia Clube, matched their rivals’ success by defeating Sesi Vôlei Bauru with a clean 3-0 win in the second semifinal. The team’s standout player, Monique, scored 21 points, leading her team to victory and a place in the World Championship.
The results not only highlight the dominance of Brazilian teams in South American women’s volleyball but also set up an exciting finale to the continental championship.
