The 2016/2017 Peruvian Women’s Volleyball Championship (Liga Nacional Superior de Voleibol) Regular Season is over, leaving top four teams to compete in the playoffs.

San Martin

By reaching playoff semifinals as third seed, reigning champions Universidad San Martín broke the record in the national league in numbers of playoff appearances. The ladies coached by Spaniard Juan Diego García advanced to the knockout stage of LNSV for the sixth consecutive time! In the semis, they will face No.2 Alianza Lima.

This season, San Martín had to overcome many difficulties: Zoila La Rosa went to France, Brazilian Milca Da Silva gave birth just before the season, two members of Peruvian NT – opposite Maguilaura Frias and middle blocker Maricarmen Guerrero – struggled, while the club suffered forfeit due to violation of foreign limit rule in the finish of the season. Thus, qualifying to the playoffs was quite a stunt.

The other semifinal pair is top seed Géminis Comas vs. No.4 Regatas Lima. Playoff begins on Friday, April 14.
