Halkbank collected the maximum of 3 points from the Turkish men’s club volleyball classic against Arkas, valid for a delayed Round 13 of the 2020/21 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi regular season. The Ankara side prevailed in 4 sets, partially 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, and 25-23. Despite the win, Halkbank’s ranking in the charts didn’t change (they remained 5th) but they came to just 1 point behind today’s rivals (50 vs 49), who are 4th placed.
An 18-year-old Efe Bayram top-scored Halkbank with 22 points, while Oğuzhan Karasu set up 4 blocks. Efe Bayram’s namesake and coeval Efe Mandıracı put down 28 points for Arkas.
In a delayed match of Round 11, 3rd placed Ziraat Bankkart beat Sorgun Bld. by a 3-1 and recorded the 15th successive win in the competition to which they were led by Bulgarian Martin Atanasov (19 points) and Bedirhan Bülbül (4 aces, 4 blocks).
The vice-leaders Galatasaray HDI Sigorta extended their victorious run to 11 games. Mostly thanks to Puerto Rican Maurice Torres (19 points, including 4 aces), the Istanbul team swept Haliliye Bld.
