Italy’s Saugella Monza defeated Serbia’s ŽOK Ub by a 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-18) at home (Monza hosted one knockout stage bubble) and thus qualified for the semifinals of the 2021 Women’s CEV Cup, the second most important European club competition. Monza, 3rd placed side in Serie A in which they hold a 12-game winning streak, confirmed the pre-match predictions, eliminated rivals, and prevented an all-Serbian duel in the semis.
Led by Belgian Lise van Hecke (25 points, including 5 blocks), German Hanna Orthmann (4 aces), and Beatrice Parrocchiale (76 % reception; 29 digs, 1 error, 52 % excellent), Monza scheduled a duel against Tent Obrenovac in the Final 4.
Turkey’s Galatasaray HDI İstanbul completed the semifinal lineup by eliminating Germany’s Dresdner SC at home (3-1). Russian Tatiana Kosheleva and Ukrainian Olesia Rykhliuk tallied 18 points apiece on the winning side. Galatasaray will face France’s Béziers Angels, who earned the qualification earlier, in the semis.
