Halkbank’s unbeaten run which lasted since the beginning of the season came to an end in the quarter-finals of the 2021/22 Turkish Men’s Volleyball Cup.
Arkas Spor became the first team to throw Halkbank on their knees this season counting all competitions. The Ankara side made 20-0 since the beginning of 2021/22, winning the first part of the regular season in AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi. However, they fell to Arkas in the quarter-finals of the national Cup (Erkekler AXA Sigorta Kupa Voley) 2-3. Brazilian Gabriel Cândido was the most deserving individual for such an outcome as he tallied 22 points for Arkas, who moved to Final Four. Bertuğ Öndeş set up five of his teams’ 18 blocks.
Another major favorites for the trophy, Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta, are out. The national vice-champions lost their quarter-final duel to Spor Toto 0-3.
Final Four of the Erkekler AXA Sigorta Kupa Voley will be played in March or April.
