In a surprising announcement, Arkas Spor, one of Türkiye’s most established volleyball clubs, revealed that they will not be participating in the Efeler Ligi next season. The İzmir-based team, which has contributed to Turkish volleyball since the 1999-2000 season, announced plans to shift their focus to a developmental role in the 1st League starting from the 2025-2026 season.
Arkas Spor, known for their success with multiple national and international titles, including 4 Efeler Ligi championships, will now aim to nurture young Turkish talent, aligning with the club’s long-standing philosophy of developing future stars in the sport.
The team, which began the current season by winning the Balkan Cup and AXA Sigorta Champions Cup, will temporarily step back from top-tier competition, with several key players set to retire at the end of this season. While rumors of financial strain have surfaced, these have not been officially confirmed.
