Bornova Anadolu Lisesi İzmir (BAL Spor) made one of the major upsets in the Turkish championship this season and they did it in the last round in 2015.

Last placed team in Division 1 downed favorites Ziraat Bankası Ankara at home court in 130 minutes, and after trailing 2-0 in sets – 3-2 (19-25, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, 16-14)!

Halil Yücel was the main creator of only the second win of BAL Spor this season. He scored 26 points. The Estonian Oliver Venno led Ziraat’s scorers with 24.

Silver medalists Halkbank Ankara had an easy job at home against İnegöl Belediye 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-20).

In front of only 250 spectators, Burutay Subaşı led winners with 18 points. Bulgarian Zlatan Yordanov collected 10 in İnegöl.

Halkbank’s coach Lorenzo Bernardi combined roster a bit. For instance, the French Kévin Le Roux didn’t play in Set 3, while Bulgarian Tsvetan Sokolov had more room to return into shape after getting out of injury. He played through entire Set 3 and had six points.

Halkbank will see 2016 as leaders in the standings.
