VakıfBank vs. Eczacıbaşı
In the second leg of Playoffs 12, in fornt of their fans, ’Vakif’ simply destroyed unrecongnizable Giovanni Caprara’s side in straigh sets, with partial 25-21, 25-18, 25-21, and qualified to the Playoffs 6 where they will play versus winners of Lokomotiv Baku – Volero Zürich clash.
The team led by Giovanni Guidetti was superior in every segment of a play – in excellent reception (40%-11%), service (7 aces – 2 aces)… with 12 points from the Dutch Lonneke Slöetjes. The 15 points from American Jordan Larson were not enough for Eczacıbaşı.
In the clash of two well-known rivals from the Russian Superliga, Dinamo Kazan prevailed over Uralochka-NTMK Ekaterinburg in the second leg, as well.
After downing CEV Challenge Cup silver medalists on road, two weeks ago (3-1), Russian title holders achieved same result in front of home crowd, partially 23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22. Interestingly, it was the second clash of these two teams in four days as they met in domestic league, on February 21, when Dinamo won by 3-2.
Bulgarian Elitsa Vasileva (25) and Ekaterina Gamova (21) led Dinamo to new win. Dariya Evtukhova had 15 in Uralochka.
Another Dinamo, the one from Moscow, also qualified for the Playoffs 6. After four-set win in Germany, the Russian side was even more confident agaisnt Dresdner SC in second leg – 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-21). Nataliya Obmochaeva scored 14 in Dinamo while Louisa Lippmann collected 11 in German champions.
