Turkish Volleyball Federation returned playoffs after two seasons both in Men’s and Women’s national championship but did not set the dates and timetable up until now. The reason for this is the 2017 Women’s Volleyball FIVB Club World Championship which will be held from May 8 to May 14 in Kobe, Japan.
Turkey still does not have representatives at the tournament but will likely have. The 2017 CEV Champions League winners (Turkey has three teams in the Playoffs 6) will take part in the Club World Championship, while FIVB will award four wild cards (Turkish teams are always in the closest competition to get one of them).
According to our sources, there is a huge possibility that there will be no playoffs in the Turkish Women’s League (Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi) after all in order to avoid overlap with the Club World Championship.
So far, three teams secured their berth in the Club World Championship: hosts Hisamitsu Springs, 2016 Asian Club Championship winners NEC Red Rockets and 2017 South American Club Championship gold medalists Rexona-Sesc.
