Former captain of the Turkish National volleyball team has retired at age of 34.

Esra Gumus Kirici decided to put an end to her career. Former member of Vakifbank (1995-200), Yesilyurt (2000-2004) and Eczacibasi (2004-2015 – captain) played very important roles in all these clubs but she thinks that it’s time to say goodbye to volleyball.

We must say that in the previous season she played for Sariyer.

Esra was a member of the Turkish National team since 1997 until 2013. She was the captain and officially played 113 games.

During that period she won silver medal at European Championship 2003 in Ankara and the bronze 2011 in Belgrade. In World Grand Prix 2012 she became bronze medalist.

In her club career she six times was the winner of the Turkish Championship, twice won Cup and Supercup of Turkey, 2015 with Eczacibasi she won CEV Champions league and Club World Championship.
