Well, this was totally unexpected. After winning the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics with the USA team, Alisha Glass decided to make a pause in her volleyball career.

She did not retire from the game. Glass said she won’t use the term “retire,” because that’s too permanent. However, we won’t see her on a volleyball court for a while.

“I’m not going overseas anymore, and I’m putting everything on hold,” Glass said for record-eagle.com. “I’m taking some time off, and I’m going to spend some time with my family when I can and my boyfriend (former NBA player Josh Childress), wherever he ends up, and just kind of do the normal life. I’ll see if that doesn’t pull me in a different direction.”

Glass, 28, spent the last two seasons in Imoco Volley Conegliano, Italy. Before that she played for Fenerbahce Grundig (Turkey), Liu Jo Modena (Italy), Atom Trefl Sopot (Poland)…
