In front of a home crowd of 2’500 spectators the team around captain Joao José beat the Romanian champion 3:0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-17).

During the match that lasted only for 70 minutes the Germans killed their opponents most of all with their strong services. They got 8 aces – 3 of them came from Marcus Böhme. The middle blocker was one of the most impressive players of the match. He scored 13 points and shared the crown of the best scorer with his teammate Oliver Venno.

Focused on the Volleyball techniques we played a very, very, very good match”, said FRIEDRICHSHAFEN coach Stelian Moculescu.

ZALAU never found an answer to our action”.

Also libero Nikola Rosic was quite satisfied with the performance of his team. “Everything was going well today”, he said. “We had a pretty good service, a nice block and a stable reception”.

On the site of ZALAU coach Mariusz Sordyl was not too disappointed about the result. “It was a lucky first set for FRIEDRICHSHAFEN”, he stated. “And during the second and third set we did not find back our way and made too many mistakes. One good set is not enough against a team like FRIEDRICHSHAFEN”.

The home success means that FRIEDRICHSHAFEN has the chance to book the spot for the Playoffs 12 already two legs before completion of the league round. Euphony ASSE-LENNIK lost tonight in straight sets to group leader Zenit KAZAN and if next week the Germans claim the return match in Romania with a 3:0 or 3:1 and the Belgians lose at home with the same score, VfB will automatically book a spot for the next round of the competition.
