Olympiacos, who overwhelmingly won the regular season in the Greek Championship with a 21-1 record and swept the playoff semifinal series with No.4 seed A.S.P. Thetis, successfully started the finals. The team from Piraeus achieved a straight-set win over third seed Pannaxiakos, at home, partially 25-14, 25-21 and 25-17 to get a 1-0 in the series and now need two more wins to claim the national title.

Olympiacos played Game 1 without two starters, German opposite hitter Saskia Hippe and middle blocker Katerina Giota, due to injuries. Konstantina Vlachaki top-scored for the winning side with 15 points.

2018/19 Greek Women’s Volleyball Championship playoff finals – Game 1:

(1) Olympiacos – (3) Pannaxiakos 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-17)
