The 2020/21 Super League regular season for women entered the stage in which two rounds per day are played.
The vice-champions Shanghai came back from two sets down against Liaoning in Round 3 of Pool B: 3-2 (16-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-8) and got to 3-0. German Louisa Lippmann top-scored the winning side with 29 points. American Jordan Larson made 4 blocks.
Beijing also needed five sets to surpass their rivals today. Ren Kaiyi led the team from the Chinese capital in scoring with 28 points. Wang Lujia served 5 aces, while Wang Lin made 83 % reception (80 % perfect).
It seems that yesterday’s defeat pissed off Tianjin, who demolished a team that was at the top of Pool B prior to the match – Zhejiang – in Round 4: 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-21). Li Yingying tallied 16 points, including 4 aces, for the titleholders, while Wang Yuanyuan had 6 blocks.
It was the first defeat of Zhejiang this season, who followed the fate of Jiangsu who today also failed in the competition for the first time. They succumbed to Guangdong in five sets. Bulgarian Dobriana Rabadzhieva was Guangdong’s most prolific player with 28 points and 76 % reception (76 % perfect). Guo Huizhen set up 5 blocks.
