Sesc RJ Flamengo have been heavily suffering from absences of their players since the beginning of the 2020/21 Superliga Banco do Brasil regular season for women but are part of the group of six teams (half the league) with perfect scores after two rounds.

Josefa Fabíola Alves and Roberta Silva tested positive for Covid-19 and were added to the list of absent players which already consists of injured Ariele Moreira, Natália Araújo ‘Natinha’, Colombian Camila Gómez, and Lorenne Teixeira.

The 16-year-old outside hitter Ana Cristina Souza took the chance given by the head coach Bernardo Rezende ’Bernardinho’ against São Caetano and top-scored Sesc Flamengo in a straight-set win with 15 points, including 5 aces. She was also amazing in the reception with 82 % (27 % excellent).

Led in scoring by Tifanny Abreu (16 points) and in reception by Vanessa Janke (79 %; 39 % excellent), Sesi Vôlei Bauru defeated Curitiba Vôlei by a 3-1 and fell to the group of undefeated teams. One of the highlights of the São Paulo team, the Azerbaijani opposite hitter Polina Rahimova, tested positive for Covid-19 and didn’t play today.
