WCH 2018 W: South Korea and North Korea victorious, Kazakhstan thrill home crowd by outplaying Australia

Both Koreas won their matches on the Day 3 of the Asian Qualifiers to remain the candidates with the greatest chance to claim a spot in the 2018 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship from their pool.

In Pool B, in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, South Korea downed Iran 3-0 (25-16 25-18 25-20) thanks to 11 points from Kim Yeon-Koung, while North Korea outplayed Vietnam in straight sets as well, partially 25-21, 25-22, 25-20, with 22 points from Jong Jin-Sim. Both sides that suffered defeats today, Iran and Vietnam, said goodbye to the World Champs.

Kazakhstan put themselves in front of Australia in the Pool A rankings by beating them 3-1 (25-15, 25-6, 22-25, 25-9) in front of own crowd in Almaty. Sana Anarkulova was the best scorer of the winning team with 19 points.

In the same pool, Chang Li-Yun pushed Chinese Taipei toward powerful victory over Fiji 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-10) by scoring 10 points.
