Former Polish volleyball national team member, Zbigniew Bartman, has announced his participation in a “freak-fight” tournament named Clout MMA on August 5th, in an interview with Filip Kołodziejski on TVPSPORT.PL. He is set to compete against Tomasz Hajto, a former Polish football national team player.
Despite their respective backgrounds in volleyball and football, the 36-year-old Bartman and the 50-year-old Hajto will square off in the octagon, a unique platform typically associated with mixed martial arts. These freak-fights often involve amateurs from diverse professional backgrounds.
During the interview, Bartman also mentioned the possibility of a future showdown with Russian volleyball player and former national team member, Aleksei Spiridonov. Spiridonov has been notorious for his controversial statements on social media where he insulted the Poles and disposed of the Polish national team uniform in a trash bin. He has been playing in the Qatar Championship since 2020.
Addressing a question about a potential match against another volleyball player, Wilfredo Leon, Bartman confirmed his readiness. “If such an offer came, I would accept it. It would be a media fight because we already have a ‘conflict'”, he stated. However, he predicted that Leon will likely continue to play volleyball for many years, thus suggesting that their paths might not cross in the ring.
Bartman also expressed his eagerness to challenge Spiridonov. “It would be a treat for all fans, because we know what this idiot has shown towards Polish fans”, Bartman said, referencing Spiridonov’s offensive remarks.
Bartman completed his last season by playing for the Italian A1 SuperLega team Siena.
