Slovenia’s women’s national team spoiled France’s festive season opener with a commanding 3-1 victory at the Palais des Sports in their first training and test match. Backed by a loud home crowd, the French team showed spirit but struggled to contain Slovenia’s powerful play.
Slovenian opposite Eva Zatkovic and outside hitter Mija Siftar were unstoppable, driving their team to win the first three sets. Their consistency and aggressive play at key moments left France chasing the game.
For France, the match marked a fresh chapter under coach Cesar Hernandez. Despite the loss, he gave valuable court time to emerging players, who helped the team claim a fourth bonus set offering hope for the season ahead.
The teams meet again on Saturday before France heads to Poland for a four-nation tournament.
