Qatari beach volleyball stars Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan finally claimed their first-ever gold at the Gstaad Elite tournament, winning in straight sets against Sweden’s Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson.

In a nail-biting final, the Olympic bronze medalists held off a fierce Swedish comeback to take the match 21-19, 22-20.
“It was wild out there,” Cherif said. “But we stayed calm. We knew they could come back, and they did—but we were ready.”
They weren’t alone in celebrating: Dutch pair Boermans and de Groot earned bronze after a tiebreak win over Brazil. For de Groot, it was the perfect birthday gift.
The Beach Pro Tour now heads to Montréal this August.
