Russian powerhouse Belogorie Belgorod announced the recruitment of Chinese national team outside hitter Zhang Jingyin. At just 23, Zhang has distinguished himself as the leading force for his national team over the past two years.
In the recent edition of the Volleyball Nations League, he proved his mettle by becoming the fourth highest scorer, with an impressive tally of 201 points.
Zhang’s entrance to the Volleyball Nations League was marked by a standout performance against Bulgaria, scoring 29 points in a five-set thriller. Despite missing a game against Italy, Zhang consistently showcased his scoring prowess, surpassing the 20-point mark in five matches.
Despite his individual brilliance, Zhang’s efforts couldn’t save the Chinese team from a crucial defeat against Canada, resulting in their unfortunate position at the bottom of the standings. They are now set to compete in the Challenger Cup to secure their place in the Nations League 2024.
Before joining Belogorie, Zhang played for the Chinese club Zhejiang, where he secured a bronze medal in the national championship. His international debut followed with the Polish club Trefl Gdańsk in the second part of the previous season and he was the first-ever Chinese player to compete in the Polish top division.
