Fakel Novy Urengoy has officially welcomed a major new addition to its roster — 27-year-old opposite hitter Yuri Romano, a European and World Champion, and Olympic Games finalist with Italy.
Romano made his professional debut at age 15 in Italy’s Serie B with Diavoli Rosa. From 2017 to 2021, he competed in Serie A2. In 2021, he moved to Italy’s top-tier SuperLega, first joining Milano and then Piacenza.
Romano has represented Italy internationally since 2019, collecting titles such as the 2019 Universiade gold, the 2021 European Championship, the 2022 World Championship, and placing fourth at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
