The Iran Men’s Volleyball National Team has qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Asian champions Iran pulled off a comfortable straight-set win against the hosts of the continental qualification tournament, China, in the final showdown in Jiangmen. By beating China in a decider with 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-14), Iran confirmed their superiority over the rivals knowing they defeated them in the pool stage as well. Actually, the team coached by Montenegrin Igor Kolaković finished the tournament with the unbeaten record (5-0), conceding only 2 sets throughout the competition (in the semis vs. South Korea).

Seyed Mousavi drew Chinese players crazy with the wall on the net as he made 9 kill blocks to score game-high 16 points. Jiang Chuan tallied 13 points for China. Playing in the Tokyo Games will be the 2nd appearance of Iran at the Olympic Games after the 2016 Rio de Janeiro.

FIVB releases COVID-19 guidelines for restart of volleyball activities

At last the guidelines on Covid-19, from a top governing volleyball body.... I appreciate them. It is a progress. Some of recommendations are general, some specific for volleybal. It seems to be the soft legal instrument. Nevertheless they could assist to national VFs… Majority of recommendations are reasonable, some of them should not be a problem to kept, some will need a much bigger effort to be kept, some should be included yet. For this goal, there should be obtained a support (best voluntary) and discipline from athletes, coaches, officials, referees , medical staff, club owners, fans etc - realised what is in a stake… Media will have an important role in that..
For implementing of these measures there should be probably prepared also some Roadmap.. Perhaps it would be a suitable to consider the responsibility for pertinent officials, positions, and how to enforce crucial measures, recommendations, specified for this sport - if the situation would be worsen ....
We can hope , that these epidemiological preventive measures will be only temporary and volleyball will return soon to halls, and fans could see their teams personally.
