CHALLENGE CUP W: Beylikdüzü withdraw at last minute – Linz automatically progress to quarterfinals

Only one out of 2 scheduled matches of the 8th finals of the 2020 CEV Women’s Volleyball Challenge Cup (3rd tier of European club competition) for today was held.

At the last minute, the Turkish side Beylikdüzü Voleybol Istanbul has withdrawn from the competition due to financial difficulties thus, they lost both matches against Askö Linz-Steg by a forfeit. Austrian directly qualified for the quarter-finals in which they will likely face one more team from Turkey, THY Istanbul, who were confident, yesterday.

Hungarian representatives Békéscsabai Röplabda SE had an easy job in Slovenia, beating Calcit Volley Kamnik in straight sets.

Ladies in Black Aachen (GER) – Sm’Aesch Pfeffingen (SUI) 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21)

Béziers VB (FRA) – Pölkky Kuusamo (FIN) 3-0 (28-26, 25-14, 25-17)

Kanti Schaffhausen (SUI) – AO Thiras Santorini (GRE) 3-2 (25-15, 17-25, 25-23, 19-25, 16-14)

Beylikdüzü Voleybol Istanbul (TUR) – Askö Linz-Steg (AUT), walkover

Calcit Volley Kamnik (SLO) – Békéscsabai Röplabda SE (HUN) 0-3 (14-25, 19-25, 23-25)
