Turkey maintained their leadership in the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League as they beat the USA in straight sets, partially 25-15, 25-17, and 27-25, on Week 4 opening in Pool 16 (Jiangmen, China).

Turkey took a little revenge on the USA for losing the last year’s final in their first VNL encounter since that epic match in which the USA came twice from behind in sets (from 0-1 and 1-2).

Turkey set a new national team record for the longest winning streak in a world-level major tournament (6) to stay at the top of the charts with a 9-1 record. The United States are fifth with a 7-3 record.

Ebrar Karakurt tallied 20 points for the winning side, while Jordan Thompson made 10 for the USA as the only double-digit player in her team.

China have beaten Poland to win their eighth successive match in the 2019 VNL (8-2 record), sixth in a row in straight sets, leveling with Turkey who scored the same number of victories with a 3-0 scoreline.

Pool 16 hosts out-blocked rivals (13-4) with Hu Mingyuan and Yan Ni standing out in this element with 5 and 4 kill blocks, respectively. Zhu Ting top-scored for China with 13 points. Malwina Smarzek notched 17 for Poland (7-3) to stay at the top of the tournament’s top scorers list with 262 points. She is followed by Brayelin Martínez from the Dominican Republic (201 points).

TUR W: VakıfBank’s hellish plan – Bartsch to come in January, Egonu in summer!

Re: @Anon - Zhu Ting is not gonna go anywhere till Olympic is over. Wrist injury gonna take sometime to heal and recover. Hopefully She will fully fit before Olympic. Otherwise defending the title is almost impossible for China without Zhu Ting.

If Zhu Ting is still hurt or injured during the tournament, the coach can use her as a middle blocker. I feel she is the best blocker on the team. She has great instincts of where the hitter will hit to, she is tall and her hang time is very good. She is one of the more effective blockers against Egonu.

Thailand win title in Women’s Volleyball at SEA Games for 12th successive time

The different in strength and overall qualities of the team between Thai and the rest are just too great . Thai can still win even with their reserve members. Reply

CL M: Benfica shock Warszawa to record first-ever triumph in pool stage

VERVA Warszawa's defeat was due to Anastasi who too underestimated his opponent.
Starting lineup of VERVA in the match included 4 players who rarely played in the domestic league.

In order to make it to the playoffs, VERVA had to win this match against the weaker team but lost.
Therefore, it became very difficult for VERVA to pass through the group.
